The Barfly Microshell Jacket is our lightest waterproof layer at 480 grams (17.25oz). Streamlined for packability, we prioritize simplicity and weather protection to deliver a highly packable, high-performance 3-layer 30k / 30K waterproof / breathable shell that's easy to find room for.
Updates for 2025 include adding a double storm flap over the center front zipper, replacing the chest pocket with two hand pockets, and incorporating four-way abrasion-resistant stretch nylon fabric in high-wear areas on the arms to improve durability.
Combine with the matching Barfly Overpant and insulated Jackaloft or Ectotherm Jacket to create a versatile multi-season layering system that packs down small.
This lightweight 3-layer 30K / 30K waterproof / breathable shell features 20D nylon stretch main body fabric, and 160D four-way abrasion-resistant stretch nylon fabric in high wear points, that allow for unimpeded movement while riding and ease of layering over armor.
Seal out the weather by tightening the adjustable elastic cuffs and drawcord hem. To combat the flap often associated with lightweight materials at higher speeds, cinch up the anti-flap adjustment hidden in the left hand pocket.
It also boasts a removable, single-adjust hood. Remove the hood when riding, or wear it under your helmet on nasty days for even more coverage. When not in use, the Barfly stuffs into its left hand pocket to easily stash away until you need it.
Even fair-weather trips have their moments; bring along some reassurance with the Barfly Microshell Jacket and matching Barfly Overpant.
Our apparel is designed to fit true to size over body armor - no need to size up; we've done the math for you.

The YKK Aquaguard Vislon main closure zipper features a storm flap, providing superior weather resistance.

The Barfly jacket stows in a hand pocket for easy, minimalist packing that tucks neatly into luggage or backpacks, allowing riders to deploy or store the Barfly quickly and easily in changing weather conditions.

The Barfly is the perfect way to add waterproof protection and extend the performance range of our Jerseys and Surveyor Jacket.
1 star down as it's almost not possible to fully close the zip .
I should be easily just zip up the zipper to fully close it , unfortunately the little ''pocket'' in the collar always is on the way on the zipper and block it.
To close it I have to fold this ''pocket' out of the way first , close the zip , then fold that ''pocket back '' . Seriously this kind of hassle should not be happening !
Apart above...it's truly a fantastic over-shell Jacket and I love it !
The material has a lot of stretch , I almost don't feel I wear it .
Despite no vents I don't really overheat during off road technical riding .
Material breath quite well and is not sticky inside.
This is the most comfortable rain jacket I had so far to be honest !
Additional bonus is, that you can use Barfly Jacket not only on the bike , actually I use this Jacket almost every time is raining and I am going out of home .
The hood has a really good shape and serve very well during walking under heavy rain .
I really like the Red Rust color which isn't bright red , actually it's quite toned and looks really classy .
Its everything I can say for now after just a few weeks of using it.
Durability update will follow after few months of use.
As per sizing:
I mostly use Medium American sized Jackets or Large European sized Jackets .
I purchased Medium Barfly Jacket and for me it works very well .
Because of the stretch materials used , it fit comfortable over separate Leat 5.5 armour , Jackaloft Jacket and my mesh Jacket .
When I wear it over separate armour and Jersay only, it is not excessively big . It's nice and snug , comfortable in every combination . Love it !
Can recommend for anybody !
I recently wore the Barfly Jacket during the Southern CABDR and I really enjoyed how light the jacket was and how versatile it is. I was in a range of temperatures from 38˚ to 76˚ and I wore the jacket everyday either as an outer-shell or as a layering piece (I had a heavier jacket with me). Because the Barfly jacket is lightweight I was comfortable wearing it when the temperatures climbed and because it's so thin it was a great layer when I wore a more robust jacket for added protection.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, and this is personal preference, is I would like the shoulders down to the elbows to have a more durable layer or a fabric like the Barfly pant does. I was nervous that if I fell I would tear the arm of the jacket. Luckily I didn't have to find out, but I would love to see this area reenforced. That aside, I highly recommend the Barfly jacket and pants. They're both great.

I bought a women's size S, I wear a size 42, it insulates and is waterproof. Excellent product
