The Woodsman is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding. It’s just as at home on tight woods singletrack as it is in the open desert or on extended ADV trips.
(Our new armored Woodsman IR OTB Pant is now available here.)
The Woodsman Over-The-Boot Pant is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding. We re-engineered our in-the-boot Woodsman and added over-the-boot functionality with full-grain leather panels on the inside of the knee, leg, and Velcro adjustable hem.
We re-engineered our In-The-Boot Woodsman and added Over-The-Boot functionality with full-grain leather panels on the inside of the knee, leg, and Velcro adjustable hem.
The Woodsman takes design inspiration from ski touring and alpine gear. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s ‘stretchy.’ Not just in a few small panels but everywhere. To complement the stretchiness, we articulated the patterns for athletic riding and for alternating between a seated and standing riding position. The Woodsman pants are comfortable enough that minimalists can use them as their only pair of pants on a multi-day trip. They work on and off the bike, around the fire, and out for a beer. Dust and dirt are the only things that will give them away as riding pants.
There are four vents on the thighs, two cargo pockets for your wallet, phone, trail map, or clip knife, and two hand pockets that are ‘handy’ when you’re off the bike. The pockets all zip closed, so you won’t lose your valuables if you bounce off the trail. The Woodsman is cut to fit inside your boot for durability and grip and has ample stretchiness for maximum mobility. Depending on your perspective, the Woodsman is a ‘touring pant you can trail-ride in' or a ‘trail-riding pant you can tour in.’
With the Woodsman, we’re breaking free from the convention that you need to wear waterproof ADV gear all the time. In most sports, the rain gear comes off when the rain stops. With ADV, many riders wear waterproof gear in every type of weather, regardless of whether it’s raining or not. Even in the desert with no chance of rain, we see ADVers in head-to-toe waterproof clothes, trying to manage their heat problems in all sorts of creative ways. With the Woodsman, you can take off your rain gear and continue your trip in stretchy, breathable, comfortable pants when the rain stops.
The Woodsman takes a hybrid approach to water management. The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability. All the seams are taped, and the entire pant is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, so light water beads up at the surface. There’s just enough water repellency for stream crossings, muddy puddles, dewy brush, and light rain without causing heat problems for the rest of the ride. We call the Woodsman a ‘90% pant,’ because 90% of the time it’s exactly what you need.
Our apparel is designed to fit true to size over body armor – no need to size up; we've done the math for you.

The woodsman pants OTB from Mosko Moto are actually pretty awesome. I like almost everything about them. I still did return them because knee and hip protectors. Even so the adjustable knee protector is sitting at the right height, because of how wide the pants are around my knees they move right and left a lot. I'm a size 32. The pants are around 22 inch circumference at the kees. My knees are only 14 1/2 inch. For me that is way to lose. The hip protector it not at the hip. It is more to the front behind the front pockets :(
These pants are well made and functional. I'm was very hopeful to have them feel the same as the older Woodsman. But they're not. Tthese are big, puffy, bulky, heavy and right in line with all of the other manufacturer's "ski pants". Off to find a better fit.(I hate that I sold my 2024 standard Woodsman. :(
I just returned from a successful COBDR and I wore the Woodsman IR OTB Pants for the duration of the ride and loved them. Prior to this I have worn both the Woodsman OTB Pant and the Woodsman Pant and the one thing I wanted was integrated knee protection, so when Mosko Moto introduced the Woodsman IR version, I jumped at them and purchased the them the morning they were released.
Big picture I love them. The fabric has what I perceive to have a softer hand and the pocket / vent design has been updated. The knee pads have two positions (high and low) and are soft and flexible. I have a 32" waist / 32" inseam and the knee pads in the upper position fit perfectly. What is off is my hip pads hang in front of my hips where my front pockets are. It's possible this is intentional, but I removed the hip pads and wore my padded shorts.
It seems off to spend this much money and have the hip pads in your front pockets, but since my padded shorts are comfortable and provide more protection, I am happy to wear them. It would be great to have the Product Line Manager (or similar position) weigh in here and let us know if the hip pad placement is intentional or if there is an updated version coming soon. For my part I will keep wearing these with the padded shorts and I find that to be a great combo.
I have a TON of Mosko kit...and now, finally, I have my first return. I love my Woodsman OTB pants. Probably my favorite, all around pair of riding pants. When Mosko released the IR pants, I was pretty stoked and jumped on them right away. Unfortunately, the love affair didn't last. The two issues I have with the IR pants are:
1. The pants are just too baggy for the integrated knee armor (IMHO). While the regular Woodsman leaves room to accommodate separate knee armor or braces, the IR pant feels downright baggy, allowing the knee armor to float around.
2. The hip armor isn't at the hip. It hangs down right behind the front pockets.
While I don't own (yet) either the Basilisk IR or Boundary IR pants, I have tried both of them on and would definitely recommend either/both. Both have the hip armor in the correct place...at the hip, and they both have adjustment straps behind the knee to help hold the knee armor in place. Mosko has done an excellent job with both of those pants. They can be worn with the integrated armor, or with the integrated armor removed and separate armor worn underneath, same as always.
Also, the Rheon armor is absolutely the softest, most pliable armor I've ever come across. Super comfortable.
These pants really are the BDR king.
