Ectotherm Insulated 12v heated jacket

I only got to use the jacket twice before the weather turned nasty and I put my bike into winter storage. One thought though. It would have been nice if there was a simple instructions sheet included in the order. The first time I tried the jacket I didn’t realize the on button lit up when pressed so it never heated up and I got a chill. I was disheartened. So I had to watch the video to realize the button lit up. The second ride I had to stop several times an change the temperature setting to determine which color was hot, etc. I really like the jacket and look forward to next spring. By the way, three friends have purchased a jacket since seeing mine and my impression of it. Cheers!

Excellent... effective and elegant, but could use a few improvements in v2

I love this jacket and wear it all the time, on the bike and off. I put 15,000 miles on the jacket recently through mostly cold weather ranging between 32 F to 70 F. At the lower temperatures, it makes all the difference and allowed me to continue all day in relative comfort. My suggestions for v2: I find there is too much heat on my back (hot) preventing me from turning up the heat on the controller which I would have liked for the front and arms. Also the cable management is clumsy. A simple inside pocket in which to stuff the cable would work much better. But regardless, it is a great jacket and if I lost it tomorrow, I would go out and buy a replacement immediately.

Mosko makes amazing products!

I have ordered several products from Mosko, (the Backcountry 30L Duffle/Pack (V2.5), the Nomax Tank Bag, and the Ectotherm Insulated 12v Heated Jacket). All of these products have been very high quality and very well designed.

The Ectotherm is comfortable and stylish. The sleeves are a little long, suitable for motorcycle riding positions. I'm 170lbs, 5'10" on a good day, and the medium size fits just a little loose on me. I prefer the loose fit because I have the option of wearing the jacket under or over body armor.
The jacket has all the wiring needed to connect it to your bike, and the installation was easy. It is lightweight and minimal, so note that there is no way to plug in heated gloves.

After owning each of the products I mentioned, I would highly recommend them all.

Ecotherm

I had a great opportunity to test my ecotherm jacket. Weather changed 80 degrees and sunny to 30 and rainy. My basilisk jacket with my ecotherm underneath worked perfect. Kept me toasty warm through 2.5 hours of rain and 30 degrees at 65 mph!!!

Ectotherm Jacket

Love the jacket! Warmer than I thought it would be. A nice balance between a down jacket and those “lite” spring jackets. The cord is a little bulky in the left side, but once on the bike it’s not there so it’s a none issue. The cord is plenty long which is more of an advantage than disadvantage. Very happy with it! It replaced 2 jackets in my kit! Always looking to reduce gear!

We added carbon fiber heating elements to a kick-ass technical puffy, and the ‘Ectotherm’ was born.

When you’re sitting around the campfire or lounging in your tent, it’s a super warm insulator with 100g body-mapped synthetic PrimaLoft Gold insulation with Cross Core Technology. Connected to the bike, it adds a 6-panel carbon-fiber 3.5Amps/42w heating system powered by the bike. That extra warmth takes the edge off long, cold, wet, pavement stretches; keeps you warm on high alpine passes; adds new enjoyment to early spring and late fall trips, and ensures you’re ready for anything a multi-year/multi-season RTW journey can dish out.

The Ectotherm is your solution for staying sane and happy when the weather turns brutal. The name comes from Ectothermic, a scientific term for animals that exchange body heat with external sources. Like a lizard basking on a hot rock.

Unlike conventional heated liners the Ectotherm is a fully functional stand-alone synthetic insulation layer. By combining the functionality of a technical puffy and a heated liner we’ve added even more performance and versatility to a layer that we rarely leave home without. Now you can enjoy the comfort of onboard 12V heat without over burdening your pack space. Pair it with heated grips and hand-shields to create the ultimate minimalist heat system for backcountry and RTW travel.

Built with 100g of PrimaLoft Gold Insulation with Cross Core Technology at the core and 60g in the underarms to reduce bulk under armor, the Ectotherm is well equipped for any cold weather trip. This high-tech insulation combines PrimaLoft Gold, with aerogel technology, to provide up to 52% more warmth than the same weight of PrimaLoft Gold Insulation alone. This enables us to achieve both enhanced warmth and decreased weight. Integrated directly into the fibers, aerogel further enhances the performance of synthetic insulation. Now not only will it perform better than down when wet, it will also perform better when compressed under armor.

To further battle the chill of riding in the cold, we added 6 thin, flexible carbon fiber heat panels in the collar, arms, left and right chest and back. Activate the heat with a hem mounted controller to toggle through 3 levels of 3.5amp/42w heat to maximize comfort. The system is powered by your bike’s 12V battery (wiring harness included) for heat that lasts as long as the ride. When it comes to cold weather riding the Ectotherm Insulated 12v Heated Jacket is a powerhouse of comfort when pushing the boundaries of riding season.

The model is 6ft tall, 175lbs, and wearing a size Large.
