Bullet-Proof, but not Water-Proof!

Love the fit, quality, and the venting of the pants; they make a great 3-season pant. Unfortunately a main consideration for me is "will I stay dry and warm" in a rainstorm, which happens frequently - I HATE being wet and cold. Last fall I was in a multi-day ride, and when the weather turned bad and the temps dropped, I was almost instantly drenched, and severely cold. My buddy wearing the "competition" brand was bone dry and laughing at me. I contacted Mosko about it, and they swapped out the pants for the "new" version which was supposed to alleviate the known issue of water seeping in the crotch/butt area. They didn't - I was wet last rain storm once again, and now about to leave for a week long Colorado trip, and considering which pants to bring due to this concern. Bummer for sure.

Definitely NOT waterproof

I bought my Basilisk jacket and pants around September 2020 and have worn them as my regular riding gear which I have grown to really like (even though the jacket waist is tight on my lady hips). Fortunately/Unfortunately, I haven't had a real rain incident in all these months, a few sprinkles here and there. Last weekend we rode for 5 hours in Northern California from Klamath River to Crescent City, in a pretty steady rain. Sadly, I was drenched, especially my butt & legs through my "freeze out" & light long johns. My top was also wet through my "freeze out", but my heated gear kept the water off my body. My husband, in his Klim Bandlands was bone dry. Needless to say I am very disappointed in the lack of water proofness. This was as good as my cheap HD rainsuit or my cheap Bilt jacket/pants had performed years ago. On a high note, our Mosko bags kept our stuff completely dry.

I love these pants, but..

I just got back from a 100 day tour of the TAT, baja and mainland mexico. I wore these pants every day and love them. They are comfortable, fit me well and look good. They have held up well! In hot weather there is plenty of venting, in cold weather they were comfortable enough. Overall, they were exactly what I was looking for except they are not waterproof. They are drizzle proof, so if you only ride in light rain for short periods of time they are fine. A long day of rain and your bottom will be soaked in relatively short order which of course is a problem on a long day. I don't believe the rain comes in thru the material, I'm pretty certain it comes thru in all the zipper vents. I've purchased a pair of rain pants to wear over them. It's a pain but you do what you have to do to stay dry,

Mosko saved the day!

After having our car broken into in eureka, ca and finding that the only thing they stole was our nomad tank bags. We called mosko and talked with Jen and she was as much help as possible. She was able to send two tank bags 2 day air to Cameron park where we started our motorcycle trip to Baja. Very helpful and understanding of our situation. Thank you so much we will be posting pics of our adventure with all of our mosko gear. Cheer Jen bags were received and we are on our way. Maybe see you at the shop sometime if we ever come back from Baja. Haha!

Great gear

Overall very satisfied with this gear. Super durable, definitely water proof, extremely light and vey well ventilated. My dirt bike boots don't fit under these (Forma Predator) but my ADV boots do, which is OK I suppose. A bit of a low rise fit, so I wear them on the larger size to add the room in the crotch area needed. Zippers definitely need a little loving, a small amount of silicone spray goes a long way. If you are on the fence, jump off and buy these, you definitely wont be disappointed. Only wish would be that they were made in the USA.

Blemish Description: new condition (i.e. show kit, returned, samples)

Refined for our second production round, the Basilisk is our waterproof/breathable enduro-touring kit, for long-distance, multi-day trips through primarily off-road terrain. It combines super-premium materials with clean lines and minimalist design. With an articulated fit for freedom of motion and easy layering, the Basilisk is designed to work with separate armor systems for superior protection and versatility.

The Basilisk is both incredibly waterproof and incredibly breathable. The body fabric is an abrasion-resistant eVent Expedition 3-layer, using eVent’s proprietary Direct Venting™ technology. It’s waterproof to 30,000mm on the water column (100 feet of water pressure), with an MVTR of 10,000 g/m/d, .06cfm air permeability, and DWR. It’s the only waterproof moto pant with air permeability, plus it has the highest waterproof ratings of any moto pant we’ve seen.

On the knees, we added SuperFabric® ceramic platelets on a 600D waterproof/breathable base, sewn as an overlay on the main body eVent for added strength. With two-layers of fabric, you can damage the outer layer and still stay dry. Our zippers are top-of-the-line waterproof YKK VISLON® AquaGuard®: they won’t clog with dust and grime, and they’re easy to operate one-handed with gloves.

The Basilisk is light, nimble, and breathable, with the basic pockets and vents you need and nothing else. We eliminated hanging liners entirely, reducing weight, bulk, and heat. There are two thigh pockets, two knee scoop vents, two huge thigh vents, and two exhaust vents behind the leg. In hot weather: open all the vents and the cooler outside air envelop your upper thigh.

The Basilisk pant includes a sturdy old-school leather belt for waist adjustability, which works both on and off the bike. The leg openings are adjustable too, with waterproof internal gussets and overlapping velcro flaps.
