Basilisk Jacket

Size Guide >
The Basilisk Jacket is the top half of our waterproof/breathable enduro-touring kit, for long-distance, multi-day trips through primarily off-road terrain. It combines super-premium materials with clean lines and minimalist design. With an articulated fit for freedom of motion and easy layering, the Basilisk is designed to work with stand-alone armor systems for superior protection and versatility. It packs smaller than a traditional ADV jacket, for stashing on the back of the bike when things get hot.

The Basilisk is incredibly waterproof and incredibly breathable. The body fabric is a highly abrasion-resistant eVent Expedition 3-layer, using eVent’s proprietary direct venting technology. It’s waterproof to 30,000mm on the water column (100 feet of water pressure), with an MVTR of 10,000 g/m/d, .06cfm air permeability, and DWR. It’s the only waterproof moto jacket on the market that also has air permeability, plus it has the highest waterproof ratings of any moto jacket we’ve ever seen.

In high abrasion areas like the shoulders, back, and elbows, we added SuperFabric ceramic platelets on a 600D waterproof/breathable base, sewn as an overlay on the main body eVent for added strength. With double-layer fabric, you can crash repeatedly and still stay dry. Our zippers are top-of-the-line water repellent YKK Vislon Aquaguard: they won’t clog with dust and grime, and they’re easy to operate one-handed with gloves.

The Basilisk jacket is our full-throated endorsement of separate body armor for extended enduro-touring trips, where integrated armor is a pain. If you’ve never used separate body armor, here are the reasons we love it:

  • Temperature Management: Riding hard in a hot climate with separate armor, you can remove your jacket without losing your protection. On a hot day riding offroad in the desert, taking your jacket off is a game-changer.
  • Impact Protection: Separate armor has better coverage, and holds the pads closer to your body, so they’re exactly where they need to be in a crash. Armor pads suspended loosely in the hanging liner of a motorcycle jacket are insufficient for riding offroad.

The jacket that accomplishes its mission with the least features, is best. That’s the Basilisk. It’s light, nimble, and breathable, with the basic pockets and vents you need and nothing else. We eliminated hanging liners entirely, reducing weight, bulk, and heat. There are two external and two internal pockets, with six substantial vents placed strategically for maximum airflow.

Best gear on the market!

I've almost completed my first winter in my new Basilisk jacket, shirt, and pants and the gear is truly amazing! I'm one of the lucky ones who has almost 16 miles of dirt each way in my daily commute to work (KTM 1290R) I am so impressed that not one drop of water, mud or sand ever made it passed the zippers or opened vents. The fit was great and the venting was even better! Durable, rugged, comfortable and extremely well designed. Just like all of you, I've ridden a lot of different brands of gear in the past 20 years, but nothing has ever come close to performing this well. I just did a huge day in the Nevada desert on my 500 XCW and after a lot of brush crashing and rocky hill climbs looking for new single track, the pants and shirt came through it all without a scratch! Stop all the research you've been doing over the past few months and buy this gear now. Trust me, its worth every penny! The only thing I would change now is I would have picked the green Jacket. It looks really good!

Tough and functional-love it!

After now owning this jacket for a few weeks here’s my take:
Totally waterproof, literally riding through pouring rain and my upper was totally dry, also bottom dry because I got the Basilisk pants. This would not have been the case in any of my other gear. No more worrying about rain. The construction as with all Mosko gear is epic. Sturdy zippers, fabric is super tough and all stitching should outlast my lifetime. I am 6’3 255, fitment over armor is good, I wish the sleeves were slightly longer but still works fine. I would suggest the entire mosko layer system with the gear, super protection and very comfortable. I have ridden with this system on 300 mile days touring and hard 150 mile offroad trips. Pretty expensive but it is good quality. All my other “good” gear from Alpinestars, Klim that eventually has stitching pull apart etc seems pretty poorly made after getting the Mosko setup.

Basilisk Jacket and Pants

Received my Basilisk gear after trying them on at the Denver IMS show. The fit is as expected, perfect over armor, and the quality is top notch! Coming from a Klim Badlands suit (great for highway use), the Basilisk gear is much lighter and allows great freedom of movement off road. Combined with the Imbricate base layer, Forcefield and/or Leatt armor, and the Mosko jersey, you have the option to vent or remove the jacket for optimum comfort in the heat when working hard off road. Bonus: Since the jacket is sized to go over armor, it fits beautifully over a medium puffy jacket for cold evenings and serves as a rain jacket. The pants will go over jeans or a base layer as well. No need for separate rain gear! The kit is as close to perfect as you can find and you will get great help from anyone you talk to at Mosko. Thanks guys!

Excellent, well thought out motorcycle jacket

This jacket really delivers on all of the write-ups and reviews I researched before making the purchase. I was skeptical of ordering without first seeing the jacket in person. I made a trip to one of the IMS shows to see the gear and try it on. I am really happy that I made the trip. Seeing all of the details in the design made me a believer. This jacket is really well thought out. I switched from the BMW Rallye Suit.--I had worn that jacket everyday for the last 4 years. It is a solid suit, but the Basilisk jacket is a completely different approach to riding gear. The inner pads are more securely attached to my body-- and the outer jacket feels so much lighter than the weight I'm used to wearing in a jacket. I'm really happy with the waterproof quality of the material. Again, this is a completely different approach to the inner goretex liner in the Rallye suits. The Basilisk system is so much warmer as a result of not wearing the outer jacket saturated by rain and ice! The ventilation is also much better. My Rallye suit vents were placed on the jacket where it was shielded by the windscreen and rest of my bike. The vents on the Basilisk gear are on the outside of the body to allow for better ventilation-- same with the pants! I cannot be more pleased with this gear! If you have any doubts, make the trip to one of their events to try on the gear. Seeing it in person will confirm or deny your thoughts on the gear. On top of that, if you order from the show, you get a discount. Again, could not be happier!

Best Riding Gear!

I've had many motorcycle pants and jackets and I have to say so far Mosko is one of my favorites. It keeps the wind out on a chilly day. I have not had the opportunity to ride in the rain yet but looking forward to checking the gear out on a wet ride! and I love the Lizard :)
