Nomax Tank Bag (V3.0) - 2023

MOLLE ACCESSORY

Our Nomax Tank Bag gets major design updates for V3.0, including an additional expansion zipper, adding 2.5 liters of optional volume, upgraded backpack straps, an InReach pocket, and a lighter weight, recycled 630D material.

Inspired by the hydration packs we use for backcountry skiing and mountain biking, the Nomax comes with a 2L hydration reservoir, a stashable rain cover, and tons of storage for all those little things you want to organize and access quickly. To top it off, the bag unclips from the bike quickly and transforms into a fully functional backpack for off-bike missions.

[ Note: This is a 2023 Nomax Tank Bag V3.0. In 2024, we coated the main fabric with an extra DWR (durable water repellent) treatment. The DWR gives the fabric more water repellency and has a slightly shinier appearance than the 2023 uncoated fabric. If you'd prefer the additional DWR check out the 2024 Nomax Tank Bag. ]

DESIGN

Updates to Version 3.0

  • Expansion zipper – adding 2.5 liters of optional volume
  • Lighter weight, recycled 630D material
  • Upgraded backpack straps
  • InReach pocket

After talking to hundreds of riders around the world, and combining their feedback with our personal wants and needs, we decided to design the Nomax's storage space differently than the traditional 'toaster' shape. Instead, we divided the space into six vertical layers, each with a specific purpose. We conducted research on the types of items that riders typically store in their tank bags and discovered that most of them were small. By using a vertical layout, we were able to maximize the use of space without increasing the height of the bag.

The top layer of the Nomax has three columns of MOLLE webbing made from die-cut Hypalon. These columns can be used to mount various items such as our rain-proof MOLLE Map Pocket, Navigator Cell Phone Pocket, or MOLLE-compatible multi-tool. You can customize the top layer of the Nomax to suit your individual travel needs with the help of MOLLE webbing.

Beneath the MOLLE webbing, the next layer is an expandable beavertail. The beavertail can be used to quickly store things like sunglasses, gloves, snacks, or even a small DSLR camera. If you decide to use it for your DSLR, we've placed webbing loops on the beavertail side bellows, allowing you to directly clip the D-rings on your camera case to the bag. Inside the beavertail, we've also included a pocket for an InReach or SPOT, and a gated clip to keep your GPS/camera/beacon lanyards secure, so nothing falls out if your bike takes a tumble.

The third layer zips back into your lap and is specifically designed to help you organize small items like charging cables, pens, change, batteries, earplugs, chapstick, passport, and bike documents. This layer includes six mesh pockets, three elastic cable holders, two pen holders, and a fleece-lined glasses pocket to keep everything in its place. No more tangled mess of miscellaneous items floating around in the bottom of your tank bag - now everything has a designated home.

The fourth layer is a large open compartment featuring plenty of space for bulkier items like spare gloves, wallet, CCW, and food. There are two large mesh pockets (one with sidewalls and one flat), which are available if you need them but compress out of the way if you don't. Also, for contact lens wearers, on the foam-reinforced sidewall, there's a removable lens case holder, which can be rotated to keep the cases vertical depending on the orientation of the bag.

Under the main compartment, is a long, flat pocket designed to hold a 2.5L hydration reservoir, which comes included with the Nomax. If you're traveling in a warmer climate or on a long-distance trip, you can move the weight of your drinking water from your back to the bike to help you stay hydrated without adding extra weight to your backpack. If you'd rather keep the Nomax as tight as possible to the bike or maximize space in the main compartment, you can remove the reservoir and store it elsewhere on the bike.

The sixth and final layer of the Nomax houses a quick-stash spot for two sewn-on, crushable backpack straps. Simply unclip the Nomax from the bike, pull out the backpack straps, and clip them to the D-rings at the bottom of the bag. The Nomax converts into a fully functioning hydration pack. The side straps, which normally connect the Nomax to the bike, now become your waist strap. We use these backpack straps on dual sport trips all the time, from morning hikes to running errands in town. It looks, feels, and functions like a normal backpack.

The Nomax includes a waterproof rain cover, with a welded-seam top panel and sealed seams on the side to keep your belongings dry in a heavy downpour. There's a stash spot for the rain cover on the top of the bag and a leash so it doesn't get lost. Also, hidden away in two of the zipper pulls, you’ll find a SIM card tool, a storage compartment, and a safety whistle for emergencies.

FITMENT & ASSEMBLY
  • View Installation Instructions PDF
  • View Nomax Footprint PDF
  • Due to the Nomax's long torso, it may not fit on smaller dual sport bikes.
  • We recommend rigging the Nomax as far forward as possible – it's not uncommon for the top of the bag to extend over the handlebars on some bikes.
  • Our universal mounting harness makes it easy to swap between other Mosko tank bags and is also interchangeable between bikes.

berry good thank you

Very good product, expensive but durable and solid product, I understood the goodness on my first ride, I bought it to carry my camera, thank you, no one knows it in Japan yet, I will ride my bike and promote it, I hope it will become easier to buy in Japan, I'm a little sad that it doesn't come with a sticker, I'm considering GNOMETANKBAG next,

Could not be happier with the quality of the gear or how quickly it arrived in Oz. Fits perfectly on my GS1250

I don't like bringing gear bags along on a ride but it is a necessary evil. Mosko does a great job of keeping bags tight to the bike an pretty out of the way for the amount of stuff they can bring along. I am not a fan of a bunch of straps holding bags on.. we beat our bikes up through the rocks and trees and I hate thinking are things still back there. Mosko's innovation never ceases to amaze me. I love the cleat setup at the center of a rackless setup. It's a sturdy mount that I don't have to worry about the bags disappearing, all while minimizing the amount of straps.

I am a big stickler for durability, these bags definitely are built stout and attachment points are going to last a long time.
Mosko has definitely used real world experience to think about "what do I need right now" not somebody at a drawing board saying this will work.
If you're looking for a great product that is going to take care of you for a long time with lots of functionality this is definitely the go to product.
The Tank bag does a great job of putting important things within easy reach as well as keeping hydration secured but accessible.
Happy Trails.

I Bought Another One

I liked it so much that I bought another Nomax for my wife. I had bought my Nomax for ADV riding the way to Moab and back, starting in Charlotte, NC. The fit is a bit odd for a 2013 Triumph Scrambler.
