The Woodsman is a technical softshell enduro pant that's just as at home on tight singletrack as it is in the open desert or extended ADV trips.
Note: These 2022 Woodsman Pants run small in the waist. Please size up one from your normal size, and you're good to go. i.e. If you're normally a size 30 waist, order a 32, and get yourself an extra discount over the 2023-24 edition.
The Woodsman is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding. It’s just as at home on tight Northwest woods singletrack as it is in the open desert or on extended ADV trips. The hybrid design puts a Schoeller® waterproof / breathable material on the knees and seat for protection from wet brush, wet seats, and water crossings, while the DWR-coated nylon oxford upper provides excellent breathability.
There are four vents on the thighs, two cargo pockets for your wallet, phone, trail map, or clip knife, and two hand pockets that are ‘handy’ when you’re off the bike. The pockets all zip closed, so you won’t lose your valuables if you bounce off the trail. The Woodsman is cut to fit inside your boot for durability and grip and has ample stretchiness for maximum mobility. It’s either a ‘touring pant you can trail-ride in,’ or a ‘trail-riding pant you can tour in,’ depending on your perspective.
The Woodsman takes design inspiration from ski touring and alpine gear. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s ‘stretchy.’ Not just in a few small panels, but everywhere. To complement the stretchiness, we articulated the patterns for athletic riding, and for alternating between a seated and standing riding position. The Woodsman pants are comfortable enough that minimalists can use the Woodsman as their only pair of pants on a multi-day trip.
They work on the bike and off, around the fire, and out for a beer. Dust and dirt are the only things that will give them away as riding pants. The Woodsman’s in-boot design allows you to grip the bike directly with your boot – without pinching fabric in the middle – which is how the bike-makers and boot-makers intended it. That’s why you rarely see off-road racers in over-the-boot pants. Unlike most in-boot pants however, the Woodsman has a full-length inseam, so you won’t get that ‘moto-capri’ look when your boots come off.
With the Woodsman, we’re breaking free from the convention that you need to wear waterproof ADV gear all the time. In most sports, when the rain stops the rain gear comes off. With ADV, many riders wear waterproof gear in every type of weather regardless of whether it’s raining or not. Even in the desert with no chance of rain, we see ADVers in head-to-toe waterproof clothes, trying to manage their heat problems in all sorts of creative ways. With the Woodsman, when the rain stops you can take off your rain gear and continue your trip in a stretchy, more breathable, more comfortable pant.
The Woodsman takes a hybrid approach to water management. The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability. All the seams are taped, and the entire pant is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, so light water beads up at the surface. There’s just enough water repellency for stream crossings, muddy puddles, dewy brush, and light rain, without causing heat problems on the rest of the ride.

PAIR WITH
We call the Woodsman a ‘90% pant,’ because 90% of the time it’s exactly what you need. In full-frontal rain, the Woodsman pairs with a packable over-the-boot rain layer like the Rak Overpant

I've only worn these pants on 1 short ride, but I love the fit, all the pockets and the belt loops so I can put on a belt and carry my gun handy when riding alone in national forest. The material is very comfortable and they are a great looking pant. Damn pricey though so I will probably only own 1 pair. Nice to have riding pants that are made for the outdoors and not the race track.
EXCELLENT
I love all things Mosko. From the Woodsman pants to the Basilisk Jacket to the incredibly high performing soft panniers, it is all extremely high end and well thought out. Their customer service is also incredible. If you have a problem with anything just reach out and they will take care of it. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much for those kind words, Rosson. We are grateful for your support!
I’m wary happy with this product sits perfectly and excellent quality. I have an issue with delivery but support takes care on it very good and at the end the pry was delivered fast.
Been wearing these woodsman pants for two weeks now from cold nights in the Arizona desert to hot days down the Pacific coast of Mexico. The vents are awesome for hot days and the pockets are perfect for easy access at tolls and checkpoints. Even though they are men’s pants they are super comfortable on me as a woman.
