"Adventure Motorcycling combined my love of motorcycles and backcountry travel, rekindling my connection with the great outdoors and the pursuit of untold adventures."
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, enamored with the outdoors from an early age. I remember passing rainy afternoons reading wilderness survival manuals and dreaming of romps in the woods. As a teen, I was exposed to Krakauer’s "Into the Wild," and it was akin to pouring gas on a fire. Growing up, I did plenty of car camping and a handful of overnight backpacking trips, but those experiences didn't do much to satiate my appetite for the unknown. My father had climbed mountains, done epic solo hikes and had stories of bear encounters, summit pushes, and sleepless nights weathering storms in neoprene shelters, but by the time I reached my formative years, he was nowhere to be found. I badly wanted to follow in his footsteps, but I lacked the resources and chose a path of self-destruction instead that consumed me until I emerged nearly a decade later.
That’s when I discovered motorcycles in my mid-twenties, at a time when I really needed an outlet. Before long I was obsessed with the freedom that two-wheel travel had to offer, and was riding whenever I got the chance. Upon returning from my first extended motorcycle trip I stumbled upon an issue of ADV Moto Magazine and my mind was blown. Adventure Motorcycling combined my love of motorcycles and backcountry travel, rekindling my connection with the great outdoors and the pursuit of untold adventures. Prior to my indoctrination into this culture I always thought I was destined for lesser peaks, but the most rewarding aspect of my journey down the rabbit hole has been discovering that I had my own mountains to climb, and that they were all within reach.
In 2015 I started writing about my motorcycle exploits and sharing adventures through social media. After five years of freelance writing, photography, social media management, and digital marketing, kismet found me working for Mosko Moto. I am extremely excited to carry over my passion for this emerging segment of the motorcycle community to this awesome company that is uniquely aligned with my values.
