Calm Before the Storm

A quick update before I drop off the radar for two weeks in Black Rock City without cell/email.  Andrew is currently traveling back from Vietnam/Switzerland.  We’ll end up missing each other in Hood River by just a few hours.

Cut & sew is happening now.  Everything is paid for, we sent the wire yesterday.   The scheduled ex-factory date is 8/29, with pre-order inventory scheduled to arrive one week later by air assuming no hassles in customs.  If all goes well, by the time I get back from Nevada, the first batch will be landing in Portland and we can start assembly/shipping.  The rest of the inventory will show up 3-4 weeks later by water.

Earlier this week I went to the machine shop in Portland to pickup the first batch of wedges, frames, and pucks.

Currently sitting in my storage unit:

– Wedges and frames

– Logo placards and rivets

– Latches and keepers

– All the mounting hardware

Basically, everything but the bags themselves.

I tested the new bracket design which accommodates the SW Motech racks.  They work great.   I found that there was one pre-drilled hole in the SW Motech rack which lined up perfectly with the slots on the wedge, so I only needed three brackets to attach it.
