Blemish Description: new condition (i.e. show kit, returned, samples)
The Rak Pullover is another exercise in our “less is more” approach to ADV. Our thinking remains that the jacket that accomplishes its mission with the least features, is best. Less to break, less to go wrong, fewer places for water to get in, and therefore more functional. The result is a lighter, nimbler, and more breathable shell with a clean, minimalist silhouette.
The Rak – which comes from ‘Anorak’ - is the ultimate in simplicity. It keeps you dry in all-day driving rain, it packs away small when it’s not in use, and it’s built to last.
We wanted a light, durable, waterproof 3-layer outer shell that’s ‘too simple to fail.’ We wanted it to be just as waterproof in the third year of an RTW trip as it was on day one. This quest led us to offshore sailing, ocean paddling, and mountaineering jackets, and then eventually to anoraks, which offer the ultimate in water and wind resistance. On a bike – especially an enduro without a windscreen – we take all the wind and water straight to the face. When you’re riding into a firehose, every ridge, wrinkle, zipper, pocket, and seam is a source of weakness. We stripped away as many of those as possible in the Rak, while still preserving the core functionality we need both on and off the bike (like hand pockets, for example).
The Rak features a pullover anorak-style entry with quarter zip design, two hand pockets, one chest pocket, adjustable Velcro cuffs, and Cohaesive® embedded cord-locks at the hem and collar to help seal out the weather. The 3L eVent waterproof breathable material keeps you dry and comfortable with Direct Venting™ technology. For the ultimate in airflow and venting, take off the Rak, roll it up, and stash it on the back of the bike. It packs tiny, and features a lashing loop on the upper back so you can strap it directly to your bike or luggage when it’s not in use.
