Simple and solid

I just completed my first multi-day ride with these and they worked great! 500 miles of mostly rugged off road riding in western Colorado and eastern Utah. The wettest I've ever seen it. The rain, mud, and creek crossings were crazy. The Scouts performed flawlessly. I laid the bike over once or twice in the mud with no damage to the system. I love how easy it was to pull the dry bag from the bike at the end of the day. Super happy!

Very high quality construction

Everything feels very well made. All of the fabrics are quite robust. The mounting plates are pretty overbuilt even so things do stay incredibly stable with good pannier racks.

For the price these are pretty top tier. The only things I would change look like they might be addressed by the Backcountry bags but for the savings I can easily overlook it. Some sort of quick release option for the back plates would be nice and I'll eventually cook up a solution for this since there actually are some good points for latches on the backing plate. I used the DirtBagz rack and there are holes for rotopax mounting but I can't get the holes to line up on the backing plate with how I mounted my bags which sucks but nothing a drill won't fix for the purpose of using it for that purpose and not having to remove the backing plate.

They look and feel almost a little too high end for my KLR but I am very happy with them.

Mosko Moto Scout Bags Review

Absolutely awesome equipment. Shipping was prompt and customer service was great.

R. EVAN RITCHIE
Lovely Minimalist Pannier

Saw the Scout 25L Pannier kit on a bike at the Mosko Moto stop in Seattle in March. I ride a KTM 1190 Adventure R, and have numerous rides planned that will require carrying clothes, camping gear, and other things. I've had hard bags on other bikes, but wanted to try something that is easy to load, flexible and durable. I tend to avoid pavement where possible for the most part, and want something that will be stable when the trail or road gets fun.
I purchased these and took less than an hour on a typically rainy May evening here in the Pacific Northwet (not a typo!) to mount the plates and get the beavertail panniers in place. No big rides yet, but their flexibility has already shone itself. I had a rehearsal this evening and simply loaded a backpack with shoes, score and water bottle in one of the beavertails and rode to the rehearsal. No futzing around, just unclipped the top buckle and slid the pack out and I was off. I can see doing this regularly. I may even use a couple of fairly waterproof backpacks (Chrome Volcan Backpack) tucked inside the dry-bag for some trips I have planned for this spring and summer. The flexibility of the beavertail design means I can play with a number of different options for getting the gear I need on board.
They look good on the 1190, and with the extra webbing rolled up, there is nothing to flap or look unfinished. They are clean and utilitarian. I am a big fan of function, and these panniers have that. I look forward to using them in the months and years to come.

Hey R. Evan,

Thanks for coming to see us at the Seattle Mosko Moto Meet up. It's always fun to meet customers in person so they can see the product and talk with us!

The Scout 25 Panniers are great because of their inherent flexibility to carry basically anything that you may need whether that's commuting or moto camping.

Outstanding!

Great bags! A fantastic concept and excellent build quality. Ease of use is outstanding. Love the flexibility of being able to remove the included dry bag and use the expandable webbing to haul anything, firewood, groceries, ice, beer, laundry, etc. I added the mollie panel to be able to carry extra fuel/water bottles and accessories. Also like being able to fold the panniers up against the mounting plate when they are not in use, just leave them mounted and they are there when needed. Mounting the panniers on a KTM 390 Adventure was a breeze with plenty of mounting options. Watch the videos to understand all the features of these bags. I think they should also make a larger capacity set. Best small soft panniers made IMHO. Worth the money.

Hey Danny,

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review!

You also hit the nail on the head about the Scout 25l panniers with the sear versatility of them. There's so many different uses and it seems like you're getting the most out of them.

Scout 25L Pannier Kit (V2.0)

New for 2022: Updated and upgrade Aluminium Backing/Mounting Plate refined from the help and feedback of our customers.

  • Thicker Aluminum plate for added durability: 33% thicker, more than twice as strong!
  • Improved shape and finish process: smooth edges and larger radius corners.

Streamlined, weight-efficient and minimalist, the Scout 25 pannier V2.0 is an entirely unique take on quick-release luggage. We designed it for weight and space-conscious riders who want the benefits of a hard-backed frame pannier - such as easy on/off mounting and a stable connection to the bike - without the extra pounds. The Scout weighs and costs about the same as an old-school saddlebag, with all the advantages of modern soft luggage.

Scout panniers will mount seamlessly on most OEM and aftermarket pannier rack systems. If you don't already have racks, we recommend Outback Motortek Standard Frame pannier racks, available in the Racks & Hardware section of our website.

For carrying tools and fluids, expanding capacity, or adding a quick-stash spot for snacks and tubes, we offer a separate MOLLE Panel attachment kit that gets sandwiched between the removable drybag and the mounting frame. This is a great place to store your water and extra fuel, or stash a MOLLE-compatible multi-tool, a fixed blade knife, a hatchet, or a spade.

*CB500X Customers: We have encountered a few unfortunate heat damage and melting incidents with the Scout 25L Panniers due to the position and angle of the CB500X's exhaust. Aftermarket exhausts have not been proven to solve this issue and we do not recommend the use of Scout 25L Panniers on the CB500X with any pannier rack we know of.

We set out to design a system that weighs less than the Backcountry 35 - which is built for extreme offroad durability and long distance trips - but preserves the functionality of certain core features, such as a positive attachment to the bike, two layers of crash protection, and an extremely easy on/off mounting system.

There are so many 'over-the-seat' saddlebag systems already on the market, and we didn’t want to design another one of those, so we struck out in a totally different direction. The new Scout 25 firmly attaches to the bike, with a laser-cut aluminum plate that bolts to virtually any pannier rack. A large beavertail harness - made from extremely abrasion-resistant materials like hypalon, ballistic nylon, and polyurethane - connects to the plate, and cinches tight to the bike, holding a removable waterproof drybag in place.

When you reach your destination for the night, simply un-clip the top of the harness and pull out the drybag. A totally new type of quick release. It’s so easy!

The beavertail makes for a handy quick-stash spot for wet & dirty items, and it also protects the drybag in a fall. You get all the benefits of two-layer crash protection, plus the ability to replace damaged parts as components without replacing an entire bag. We eliminated all unnecessary material to keep the Scout’s weight as low as possible. It weighs a tiny bit more than traditional over-the-seat systems (usually a pound or two) due to the aluminum backing and PE armor, but it’s also a whole lot more durable, and so much easier to use.

The Scout’s 100% waterproof welded-seam drybags feature crushable backpack straps, so they can serve double-duty as airline carry-on or emergency hike-out bags. The backpack straps are also handy for getting everything up to your room in a single trip. Each drybag has a tough armor backing, which not only helps it retain its shape, but also protects drybag from abrading on the bike and mounting hardware. The drybags also have a water-resistant front zippered pocket.

With the drybags removed, the empty harness can be cinched tight to the bike, so it won’t flap around in the wind. If you’re out & about and find yourself in need of a handy spot to tuck a small bag, jacket, or groceries, they work perfectly for that as well.

Cutout Pannier Rack Note: Bikes with stock racks and a pannier exhaust cutout (like the R1250GSA, R1200GSA, 850GSA, or F800GSA for example) require an additional adapter. Check the 'Hardware & Parts' section of our site, or email us with questions.

This kit includes 2 side pannier bags, and all the hardware you need to install on your bike.
