Roll a Fatty with the new Fatty Tool Roll!

When we first investigated tool storage solutions several years ago, we were initially turned off by the ‘roll,’ even though we were all using them. A tool roll seems so old-school, like something a cowboy would've carried, or a biker gang in the 50s. Surely there's a better, more modern way?

With more research though, we came around. There’s a reason why tool rolls persist. The beauty of a roll versus, say, a bag or box, is that it naturally expands and contracts based on how much stuff is in it, and it conforms to a wide variety of tool shapes and sizes, while still rolling into a tidy package that fits in a stash-spot or external pocket.

With tool rolls, we felt there’d been a ‘race to the bottom’ on price-point and features. There are so many tool rolls already on the market, all with very similar features, and all at the lowest possible prices. Many OEMs even ship a tool roll for free with every bike. So we went a different direction in designing the Fatty. We cut zero corners on materials and features, and we hope we created the most awesome tool roll you'll ever own.

Is there another waterproof tool roll out there? If so, we haven't seen it. The Fatty comes with a highly abrasion-proof, welded-seam, waterproof rain cover. Tools are heavy and hard, and they press and vibrate against everything they touch, so the rain cover's gotta' be tough. This one is tough as nails, and it doubles as a trailside parts tray. If you’re riding in the desert and don’t need the raincover, no problem: reduce the Fatty’s bulk by leaving the raincover at home and taking only the tool roll itself.

Sliding the roll out of the raincover, you’ll see two rows of tool storage pockets, with webbing straps that hold everything in place. Unlike traditional tool rolls, however, there’s also a large Velcro flap that traps everything in place, so your tiniest hex key won’t escape somewhere in the woods. Inside the flap there’s a zippered mesh pocket for tube patches and tire repair. On the outside of the Fatty, there’s three long pockets for tire irons, which are always kind of a hassle to store.

What about those bulky tools that never fit? Things like vice grips and open-ended wrenches? We added two large zipper pockets to accommodate these, plus spark plugs, JB Weld, sockets, Loctite, and all those other things which you always need but can't find, because they’re somewhere in the bottom of your bag. Next to the two large zipper pockets, we added a clear zipper pocket for documents, an air gauge, or anything else you want to tuck away. It even has a conversion table printed on the front, plus a recipe for our favorite trailside drink: the Mosko Mule.

There’s a webbing belt on the outside of the Fatty that easily transfers from the outside of the rain cover to the outside of the roll itself, depending on where you want it. There’s also a handle on top, so you can easily pull the Fatty from an external pocket or MOLLE pouch.

We hope you enjoy rolling your Fatty as much as we enjoyed designing it!

The Fatty Tool Roll

The Fatty Tool Roll is an extremely well built product. It expands and contracts to carry just the right amount of tools for any ride.

In a word? Awesome

Functionally I can't see a way to improve it. Construction is fantastic and I'm 100% satisfied. Best on the market IMO.

awesome quality tool roll

I drive a BMW G650GS and this tool roll can hold all my bike tools and stows in my saddle bags so everything is in one place when I need it

Rollin a Fatty

This review is on the tool roll itself. Spanners, vice grips, full set of allen sockets. all necessary mm sockets. screwdrivers, ratchet. extensions, file, JB weld, 3 tire irons, patches with glue, 2 awls (because the Africa Twin has those stupid plastic fasteners) and I still have room for more. This piece of kit is probably the most important on a trip so why go with anything less than the best. I am even considering buying one for work to keep my bucket boss more organized...it is that good. So if your gonna roll something up make sure it's a Fatty...you wont be disappointed!

The only riding luggage I will buy

Having baught the Back Country 30, the Nomad tank bag and the Fatty tool roll I can say without a doubt that Mosko Moto has spent alot of time into design functionality and materials Just read about the Atacama (spelling?) bags for BMW motorad wich speaks volumes for the vision this company has operated under. Innovation is a winning theme throughout Mosko Motos product line and that is why I am holding out for the Reckless 80 V 3.0 The Reckless series is an amazing set up for bikes of all sizes and I can’t wait to the 80 V 3.0 If you are in the market for gear and want a personal connection with a company that values customer service (Tiffany is awesome) look at Mosko Moto as a first choice...you wont regret it.
