Basilisk Jacket

A very good jacket! super quality, I chose size L, I'm not too tall (171 cm), but athletic body and with the armor under the jacket it is comfortable and not too tight (leatt 5.5 pro hd).

Hi Chris,
thanks for your time sending us your review! This is some helpful info for other riders for sure!

I recently purchased the Basilisk as a replacement to a very heavy Bad Lands jacket.

This is a first for me not having a jacket with built in armor.

Absolutely love the styling, weight and versatility of the Basilisk. The one issue I have as was mentioned in another review is the tightness under the armpits.
Sleeve length and body fits well with the armor. Pretty tight under the arms.
First big ride is coming up so I will add more after the ride.
6'2" 225lbs. Semi fit 62 year old.

I have wanted a Basilisk Jacket for a long time and finally, all the ducks lined up and I managed to purchase one. This is a superb piece of quality riding gear. I cannot rate it highly enough. I am an XL fit normally in all my Jackets. The basilisk fits me perfectly in this size with plenty of room for layering. I can confirm its breathability and comfort, I can confirm its quality, look and feel. I have yet to test it in wet weather, however, based on my experience with Mosko gear I believe what they say about it. If you are a believer in the layering style of riding then you cannot go wrong with a Basilisk. Indeed, you cannot go wrong with any of the Mosko gear, it is all top quality and it all functions very well. I have the Back Country 35 pannier set with extra Molle bags, the Back Country 40L Duffle, the Nomad Tank Bag, and the Fatty Tool Roll for my Himalayan. My wife runs the Scout 25 with Molle’s, a back Country 40L, and a Nomad Tank Bag on her Himalayan. We also have a Reckless 80 that we use on all of our bikes including the Himalayans. I have used Mosko gear for some years now and it is by far the best kit I have ever owned. The company is fantastic to deal with, they are “can do” people who go the extra mile to bring you customer support and satisfaction. They take pride in everything they make and are constantly improving their products following extensive testing in the field. The materials are rugged and functional. The team is awesome. I have not had enough time yet to give you a full review on my new Basilisk Jacket, I will do that over the coming months as I intend to use it a lot through this coming Australian Autumn and Winter. I have no doubt it will perform far beyond and above anything else on the market. I highly rate Mosko gear and stand with the entire team. If you are in the market for the best, don’t look past Mosko Moto.
Kind Regards
Paul

Basilisk Jacket

Wondering when the new 2022 Apparel styles will arrive?
Check out the Product Availability Roadmap.

Refined for our third round of production, the Basilisk is our waterproof/breathable enduro-touring kit, for long-distance, multi-day trips through primarily off-road terrain. It combines super-premium materials with clean lines and minimalist design. With an articulated fit for freedom of motion and easy layering, the Basilisk is designed to work with separate armor systems for superior protection and versatility. It packs smaller than a traditional ADV jacket, for stashing on your bike when things get hot.

The Basilisk is incredibly waterproof and incredibly breathable. The body fabric is a highly abrasion-resistant eVent Expedition 3-layer, using eVent's proprietary direct venting technology. It's waterproof to 30,000mm on the water column (100 feet of water pressure), with an MVTR of 10,000 g/m/d, .06cfm air permeability, and DWR. It's the only waterproof moto jacket on the market that also has air permeability, plus it has the highest waterproof ratings of any moto jacket we've ever seen.

In high abrasion areas like the shoulders, back, and elbows, we added SuperFabric ceramic platelets on a 600D waterproof/breathable base, sewn as an overlay on the main body eVent for added strength. With double-layer fabric, you can crash repeatedly and still stay dry. Our zippers are top-of-the-line water repellent YKK Vislon Aquaguard: they won't clog with dust and grime, and they're easy to operate one-handed with gloves.

The Basilisk jacket is our full-throated endorsement of separate body armor for extended enduro-touring trips, where integrated armor is a pain. If you've never used separate body armor, here are the reasons we love it:

  • Temperature Management: Riding hard in a hot climate with separate armor, you can remove your jacket without losing your protection. On a hot day riding offroad in the desert, taking your jacket off is a game-changer.
  • Impact Protection: Separate armor has better coverage, and holds the pads closer to your body, so they're exactly where they need to be in a crash. Armor pads suspended loosely in the hanging liner of a motorcycle jacket are insufficient for riding off-road.

The jacket that accomplishes its mission with the least features, is best. That's the Basilisk. It's light, nimble, and breathable, with the basic pockets and vents you need and nothing else. We eliminated hanging liners entirely, reducing weight, bulk, and heat. There are two external and two internal pockets, with six substantial vents placed strategically for maximum airflow.
